Lucas does not have its own police department. Instead, we contract with the Collin County Sheriff's Office for one full-time person dedicated to Lucas. Collin County also provides routine coverage for the city when our deputy is off duty.

CrimeWeb

The Collin County Sheriff's Office and Collin County Homeland Security have joined forces with CRIMEWEB.NET to provide an effective method of alerting the citizens of Collin County of significant events. Read more about it at the Collin County CrimeWeb site.

Burglar, Robbery, Fire, Medical, & Panic Alarms

Properly installed, used, and maintained alarms are a real asset. However, the vast majority of alarm calls are false alarms. This takes deputies away from other services, including service calls dealing with criminal activity. In response to the number of false alarms, and our commitment to positive relationships with all communities, the Collin County Sheriff's Office will continue responding to alarm calls within cities that are without police departments.

All residents using alarms in Lucas must comply with the Collin County Alarm Ordinance, including submitting the application form below. Should you have questions regarding the ordinance, please contact the Collin County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Section at (972) 547-5167.
