Collin County Burn Ban

Effective Wednesday, September 1, 2010, Collin County will be under a Court Ordered Burn Ban for unincorporated areas of Collin County for a period of 90 days or such time conditions exist allowing the ban to be lifted or extended.

The ban does not prohibit outdoor burning for (1) firefighter training (2) public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations (3) planting or harvesting of agricultural crops or (4) burns conducted by a prescribed burn manager certified under Section 153.048, Natural Resources Code and meet the standards section 153.047 of the Natural Resources Code.

Ground fires for cooking or warmth in approved fire rings in public parks will be allowed.

The Burn Ban will be ratified by Commissioners' Court in a special session on Monday, September 7, 2010

This is only for unincorporated areas of the County.

I still need to be notified of any grassfire your department responds to, even inside your city limits, with the approximate size of the fire, the location or address of the fire, if any structures are threatened and the departments responding.

Our current drought index is 705. When in the 600-800 range the area is classified as an extreme fire danger area.

AND AS ALWAYS, ATTACK FROM THE BLACK
