The City of Lucas is pleased to announce that you can now sign up for curbside recycling with Republic Services.  Simply call in and setup your account, and Republic Services will  deliver a new recycle container to your home.  Bi-weekly curbside pickup service begins on Friday.  The current monthly rate of $8.15 for one container will be charged, and each additional container will be at a rate of $3.17 per month. Customers will be billed quarterly and pricing includes sales tax.

Effective April 1, 2021, the curbside recycling rate will increase to $8.44 per month and the cost for an extra polycart will be $3.28 per month. These new rates include sales tax and customers will continue to be billed quarterly.

You can easily manage your account from home or on the go by downloading Republic’s “My Resource” app available on the App Store or from Google Play.  Any issues or concerns should be directed to Republic Services at 972-422-2341.

  • Place your cart out by 7:00 am the morning of service, with the lid opening towards the street.
  • Ensure your cart has a 3-foot clearance on all sides (clear of other carts, mailboxes, etc).
  • Place shredded paper in clear recycle bags to prevent it blowing in the wind.
  • All recycle materials must be placed in the poly carts provided by Republic Services. Republic's trucks are automated and materials placed in other carts or left beside the cart will not be collected.

Recycling Education & At-Home Activities

Republic Services has created a website to help teach its customers about proper ways to recycle materials. The website includes videos, tips on what's recyclable and what's not, and even fun and educational games for all ages. Republic Services also provides virtual field trips and video tours of recycling centers and modern landfills to help educate students on what the present and future of recycling looks like.
