CWD Weather Announcement

Posted on May 30, 2024

With recent local storms, the City of Lucas waste service provider Community Waste Disposal (CWD) would like to remind residents of certain requirements for brush that can be collected:

Immediate plan – If the city has weekly bulk collection or if collection is scheduled this week, CWD will pick up brush on route as best as possible. Brush/limbs collected on route need to be cut in 5-6’ lengths and no single limb weighing more than 150 pounds.

  1. CWD is working with drivers to collect small brush piles (up to 2 cubic yards) on route throughout the week. Piles must be cut and cannot contain large logs.

Over next several days – CWD is working to assess the damage. Most of the debris has not been placed at the curb and we are urging residents to move the debris to the curb, in order to assess the damage. The City’s assistance on that assessment (area, streets, etc.) is much appreciated.

Isolated Damage (few streets/homes)

CWD can coordinate a paid pickup directly with the resident, but material will have to be at the curb

Message CWD Customer Service is providing right now – CWD and the City are working to assess the severity of the damage. With more storms coming this week, we will continue to provide updates on a cleanup effort once that assessment is completed.
