The City of Lucas Municipal Court is responsible for the prosecution and adjudication of City of Lucas Municipal Code violations punishable by fine only. The Municipal Court conducts preliminary and pretrial hearings and trials, collects fines and court costs, and can issues warrants of arrest. The Municipal Court is held on an as needed basis at City Hall. There is no regularly scheduled court dates. Please check the “Court Dates” link for the official Municipal Court dates. The law requires that you make an appearance either in person or by representation by an attorney.
Class C misdemeanor violations (traffic or criminal citations) of state and federal laws punishable by fine only are currently handled by Collin County Court, Justices of the Peace: Precinct 3-1.
If you were issued a citation, you have 10 working days from the date the citation was issued to contact the court (either City of Lucas or Collin County) to enter a plea. A court date may automatically be assigned to each case, a notification is sent by US mail to the address on the citation. Payment is expected at time of assessment. We accept cash, money order, check and credit/debit card transactions. All credit/debit card transactions are assessed a 3% convenience fee automatically.
