Public Works & Engineering

The Public Works & Engineering Department has three main goals: 1) Provide clean, fresh drinking water at a standard that exceeds federal and state regulations, 2) Promote safe travel throughout the city to safeguard public wellbeing and general prosperity, and 3) Deliver customer service and satisfaction to Lucas residence and taxpayers.

The Public Works & Engineering Department oversees the administration, management, and maintenance of the following:

  • Lucas Waterworks: Water Towers, Ground Storage Tanks, Mains, Fire Hydrants, Etc.
  • Gravity and Force Mains
  • Public Rights-Of-Way
  • Roadway Pavement
  • Street Signage
  • Lift-Stations
  • Drainage
  • Parks

This is an emergency that impacts both fire protection as well as general welfare.  Please call 911 or (972) 727-8999 immediately to report the leak.

If it is outside of regular city hall business hours, call 911 or (972) 727-8999 and press option 2, and leave a message including your telephone number and the exact address/location of the leak. The on-call person will call you back as soon as possible if you request for us to do so.  Please do not delay in reporting this type of issue.
